    Lighting Fixtures

One of the most important elements of visual merchandising is the proper use of lighting to highlight merchandise and displays.

Track lighting enhances color, and vivid color sells merchandise. Track lighting can be used for perimeter lighting – illuminating wall displays.  Track lighting can also be used as accent lighting - highlighting specific merchandise, adding excitement, and drawing attention to your merchandise.

Ambient lighting is the general lighting of the facility, which in many cases is fluorescent lighting.

*Slatwall is the most popular wall system to display merchandise and maximize total use of space.  Slatwall panels and accessories allow complete versatility to display merchandise anywhere on the panel.  Visually, the look of slatwall is very eye appealing, giving a clean, streamlined look.  Slatwall accessories fit in the grooves anywhere on the panel, allowing you to set up displays in many different ways.

**Clear acrylic trays, bins and shelves offer a clean look with the greatest appeal for your products.  These displays help you sell more merchandise, and are excellent for many accessory items including jewelry.

GENERAL DISPLAY TIPS –

Your Fun Shop should be the brightest lit area in your facility.

The area should be free from any visual distractions.

The product is the only thing that should stand out.

Keep the counter and wall free of clutter.

Assign an employee the task of keeping the Fun Shop area clean and neat.

Clean trays and display case glass.

Keep trays and bins ½ to ¾ full.

Straighten up the slatwall items.

Make a list of products that need to be ordered.

Switch products location frequently, which will attract new interest and make it appear as if you have gotten new items.

Move items around on the same shelf.

Place items in a different sized acrylic tray on a different shelf.

Move items from slatwall panel to display case.

DISPLAY CASE TIPS

  • Always keep Basic Items in stock.  Don’t assume that just because an item has been around forever, the kids would rather buy a new item.  The reason they are still around is they continue to sell well.  Remember these products are all new to a five-year-old!
  • Display price and ticket value cards on both the front and backs of each acrylic tray so both the customer and the employee working the shop can easily see the price.
  • Occasionally, you will have a slow moving item or just a few left of an item you no longer want to carry.  They won’t sell if they are mixed together in one tray.  Instead:

Mix them into your candy crane machine

Make up grab bags, which you can sell cheaply.

Give away as prizes for games.

  • When you determine the place each product will have on the shelf, remember to put items with color next to a colorless item to enhance eye appeal.  Do not place two or three colorless items together as this will create a visually dead area.
  • Some items will come in a sturdy, colorful self-display box.
  • Use the self-display boxes to add color to the case and to break up the monotony of having one tray after another.
  • Large boxes may be put sideways on the end of the display case with the folded lid pushed up through the gap in the shelf.

  SLATWALL DISPLAY TIPS –

      · On each 4” hook, hang two or three display cards and 4 – 6 each of the single items.

      · You can put an item both on the slatwall and in a display tray in the showcase

      · When a card begins to look used, you may want to put the rest in an acrylic tray

This leaves a fresh card showing and you can pull from the showcase

      · To display the inflates properly, blow up at least one of each inflate and hang them either 4” hooks at the top and bottom of the slatwall or from the ceiling with fish line.

Tip:  Liven up inflate sales by giving one to an employee to play with!
